OCTOBER LUNCHEON

NOTE TIME CHANGE – MEMBERS ONLY GAME DAY! 
Doors open at 9:00am for check-in/social time and play starts at 9:30am. (Please do not arrive any earlier as the room will not be ready for seating).  Lunch will be LATE. Bring a snack if you cannot wait.

 
LUNCHEON COST:  $25.  All attendees must confirm their reservation by mailing their check to Jo-Ellen Baxley. Make your check payable to MANDARIN WOMEN’S CLUB and contact Jo-Ellen at 904-635-8722 for mailing instructions.
  Checks must be received by October 19th.  There will be no exceptions.
Please indicate on your check if you will be playing
Bunco, Mexican Train or No Game.  
Be sure to note on your check if you prefer a Chef’s Salad.

MENU
Spinach Salad with Candied Pecans
Chicken Marsala with Pasta

Chef’s Salad is offered as an alternative to the menu.  If the salad is desired, it must be noted on your check. No changes can be made after reservation deadline. NOTE: Salad dressings available are Italian, Light Italian, or Ranch only.

PROGRAM
GAME DAY!   ******  MEMBERS ONLY 

You have a choice to play Bunco or Mexican Train. Please indicate which game you will be playing on your check when you submit your payment. Get ready for some good food, good friends, a lot of fun, and maybe you will win some cash! If you can bring a card table for Bunco (have your table at Ramada at 8:30am with your name on it) and/or a Mexican Train set, please advise Susan Pearson. Thank you very much.

Other Events this Month

Antiquing: October 6 - 9:30am (a week early) - Join your friends at Sue Wojtowicz’s house for Show & Tell of your favorite Antique. If it’s extremely large or fragile a picture is acceptable. For lunch we plan to have everyone bring an item for a “Dump” salad. A signup sheet for salad items was available at the September luncheon. If you have any questions. Call Sue Wojtowicz.

Travel: October 13 – (week late) Join us for a 2-1/2 hour narrated tour on board the Amelia Island Cruise Boat. We will see and hear an overview of the historical & ecological features of Amelia & Cumberland Islands. We will have lunch at Brett’s Waterway Cafe which is adjacent to the boat. Cost: Boat: $33 (make check out to Toby Richmond), meet at Hobby Lobby parking lot at 8:00am. Ride Share: $10. Boat money was due September 28th. Questions? Contact Toby Richmond.

MAH JONGG HAS TWO GROUPS ON TWO DIFFERENT DATES. Anyone who would like to sub for either group, please contact the respective chair(s) as listed in your Directory.

Marathon Bridge: October 24 – 11:00am - 4th Tuesday each month thru May at Noura's Cafe. Please call or text Mary Chapman if you would like to sub or want more information.

Social: October 24 - Back by popular demand is another of Chef Adam's cooking demos. This demo is at HarborChase from 2pm-4pm and will feature pumpkin-themed recipes. We will learn to prepare a soup, salad and dessert, enjoy a tasting at the demo, then receive a take home bag for a more in-depth gastro appreciation study! This event is limited to the first 18 who sign up at the luncheon, with their check in the amount of $25 made out to Tamara McKay. Sign up was at the September luncheon. This promises to be a really fun event and your presence will make it even more so. Bon Appetit!  If you have questions, contact Tamra McKay.

Night Train: October 27 – 6:30pm - Singles and Couples at HarborChase (12350 San Jose Boulevard).  Mark your calendar for the last Friday of each month (except December). This is Mexican Train, and we will be happy to teach beginners.  Park in the back and check in at the front desk. We play with quarters, so please come prepared with $3.25 in quarters. Bring your own non-alcoholic beverage and snacks.  Sign up at the luncheon or contact Gail Packard as we need a headcount for HarborChase.  BE SURE TO BRING 13 QUARTERS. 

Movie Mania: October 31 - DATE CHANGE - 11:30am -  "Mafia Mama" This movie is a comedy. Running time: 1 hour 41 minutes. MAFIA MAMMA follows an insecure American woman (Toni Collette) who unexpectedly inherits her grandfather's mafia empire in Italy. Guided by the firm's trusted consigliere (Monica Bellucci), she hilariously defies everyone's expectations, including her own, as the new head of the family business. Lunch will be at V Pizza at 11:30 am. Movie will be at HarborChase theatre, 3rd Floor at 1:00 pm.
