             NOVEMBER LUNCHEON

Ramada Inn
               
Ramada Inn Doors open at 10:30am for check-in/social time. Our meeting will begin at 11:00am. (Please do not arrive any earlier as the room will not be ready for seating).  

LUNCHEON COST:  $17.50.  Contact Betty Waldrep at 904-571-6765 for reservations.  Checks must be received by November 14th.  There will be no exceptions.

Chef’s Salad is offered as an alternative to the menu. Guests should be advised of this option. If the salad is desired, it must be noted on the reservation check. No changes can be made after reservation deadline. NOTE: Salad dressings available are Italian, Light Italian, or Ranch only.

PROGRAM

 Dorothy Fletcher will be our guest speaker. Dorothy taught English for 35 years in Jacksonville and retired in 2007 but has not quit sharing her love of the English language through writing. You will enjoy Ms. Fletcher’s tales and stories and her love of Jacksonville. Her works include:
 
- Poetry in over 80 literary magazines
- 20+ articles in the Times-Union
- Essays in magazines, journals and weeklies, and several Books.
 
Most of her books are about Jacksonville, including:  Remembering Jacksonville: A 50’s & 60’s River City C childhood, Growing Up Jacksonville, Lost Restaurants of Jacksonville, Historic Jacksonville Theatre Places, Drive-ins and Theatre Houses, and Jacksonville on Wheels:  A Car Culture Retrospective. 13th Annual Amelia Island Holiday Home Tour - December 6 - All tickets for this activity must be paid for by November 5th. Make your check out to Sue Wojtowicz and in the memo section write “Travel-December “. The cost is $25.00. Shirley Wright and Sue Wojtowicz will have your ticket at the November luncheon. Riders share and where we will eat will be announced in the December newsletter
 
Savannah Theatre show “A Christmas Tradition”- December 7 - 15 seats are available on the bus. If 45 people signup, we can get a 2nd bus. Cost is $111 and includes lunch at the Pirate’s House. Questions contact Barbara Petty or Sharon Rosenblum.

Other Events this Month

Travel - November 1 - Legacy Tour at 10am Flagler College in St. Augustine. Admission $10.00 for seniors, free for St. Johns County residents with ID. Lunch at Uptown Swinery, 45 San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine. Meet at Hobby Lobby at 8:45am to leave promptly at 9:00am. Riders fee is $9.00. Contact Mary Shell or Sue Wojtowicz. 
 
Antiquing - November 8 – We will be going to “Webb’s Antique Mall” on I-75 south of Lake City, which is huge! It has 50,000 sq. ft. of neat stuff. Then on to the cute little town of High Springs, which has a very good restaurant called The Great Outdoors, and several nice antique shops. We will meet at Hobby Lobby leaving promptly at 8:30am. Riders share is $12. For information call Shirley Wright or Nancy Crowley.
 
Mangia Mamas - November 15 - We will be having lunch at True Food, 5205 Big Island Drive. Meet at Hobby Lobby at 10:45am to leave promptly at 11:00am. Riders fee is $5.00. Contact Mary Shell.
 
Mah Jongg - November 18 – will be played in the Hibiscus Building at Westminster Woods. Hibiscus (Building H) is on the right immediately inside the gates. Parking is very limited, so carpooling is necessary. Ann Dumire will email players monthly to set up car pools from Fresh Market. Play will begin at 12:30pm. If you have any questions, contact Ann.
 
Bridge - November 19 – will meet at 9:45am at the Ramada Inn, 3130 Hartley Rd. The cost is $17.50 cash, and buffet lunch is included. If you have any questions, or would like to join the sub list, please call Hannah Stefanides .
 
Marathon Bridge - November 26 – takes place at 10:00am at the Ramada Inn, 3130 Hartley Rd. on the 4th Tuesday of each month September through May except December. The cost is $17.00 cash, and includes buffet lunch. To join the sub list or if you have questions, please call Mary Chapman.
 
Night Train – November 29 – Singles and Couples. We meet at Westminster Woods in the River Room at 6:30pm for social time and play will begin at 7:00pm. Park in any spot to the left of the flagpole in front of the building. There is no host, so please bring snacks to share and your own beverages. We play with quarters, so please come prepared with $3.25 in quarters.  Sign up at the luncheon, or contact Bev Severns or Gail Packard. Sign up is not required; but if you do, Bev or Gail will send you a reminder.
