PROGRAM
Our October 26th program features famous Jacksonville nature artist, Kathy Stark. Her watercolor paintings of Jacksonville and surrounding area parks, forests, preserves, and conservation areas have been on display at MOSH and are published in her book, “The Wilderness of North Florida Parks”.  A portion of her book sales go to the Timucuan Parks Foundation, a nonprofit established to promote and protect the Timucuan Parks. Come see her presentation about her book, art, life, and love of nature! (Kathy Stark’s book will be available for purchase, too.)

Other Events this Month

Travel – October 8 – because FOX News is renovating their studio, we have had to postpone our planned tour, and instead take a trip to Hamburger Mary’s. This is by request of those who enjoyed it when we visited before, and those who weren’t able to go with us. This is by necessity on a Sunday, and we must arrive no later than 12 noon. This is so we can be served before the female impersonator show begins. This show was a highlight of the year for those of us who attended last time, so don’t miss it! Cost for the buffet is $13.83 including tax and tip and the show is $3.21. Bottomless mimosas are available for $10 plus tax. Sign up at the luncheon or contact  our host, Elly Willis. Please indicate if you would like to drive. We will leave from Hobby Lobby promptly at 11:15am. Rider’s fee is $3 cash to your driver. Hamburger Mary’s is at 3333 Beach Blvd. in the St. Nicholas area, between Linden and Camden Avenues. If you will not be carpooling, please meet us at Hamburger Mary’s at 11:45am.

Travel Part Two – January 5 -- Don’t forget to plan for the Downton Abbey exhibit at Lightner Museum. Tickets are $19.99 or $14.99 for 65 and over. Reservations and money must be received no later than October 26, the date of our luncheon. Mail checks to Alice Soberay or pay at the luncheon. Contact Alice to reserve your spot. Tickets are nonrefundable. See Marge Rammel’s email of July 17 for further information.

Movie Mania – October 10 -- will be at the Regal Theater. Sign-up sheets will be at the luncheon. Please be sure to include your email or phone number so that Toby can let you know the movie and show time. Suggestions are welcome! Any questions or suggestions, please contact Toby Richmond.

Recipe Exchange – October 11 -- will be hosted at the home of Lana Fields. Theme is “Snacks”. Lana will provide drinks and dessert. Cost is $2.00. Please bring your recipe to share and a container to take home leftovers. Please sign up at the luncheon or contact Lana.

Antiques – October 13 – Join us for a full day of antiquing in High Springs. We will first stop at Webb’s Antique Mall on the way, in Lake City. This antique mall is huge and always has interesting things to peruse. From there we will travel to High Springs and enjoy the quaint town, shop the delightful stores, and have lunch at The Great Outdoors restaurant. We will leave promptly at 8:30am from the Hobby Lobby parking lot for the 1 ½ hour trip to Lake City. Rider’s share is $9 cash to your driver. Please sign up at the luncheon or email Linda Peacock or Laura Czaplicki.

Dining Out – October 14 – per members’ requests, we will be going to Kazu Japanese Restaurant, 9965 San Jose Blvd. We will meet there at 6:30pm. To see the menu, go to www.kazujapaneserestaurant.com and click on online ordering. This is an intimate restaurant rated 4.5 stars out of 5 on TripAdvisor. It was the #1 rated Japanese restaurant in Jacksonville. The menu is varied with sushi, sashimi and a regular variety of dinner plates. Sign up at the luncheon or contact Judy Witte.
