It’s Kentucky Derby time! Let’s wear BIG FANCY HATS OR FASCINATORS.
“THE BIGGER THE BETTER and don’t forget OUTRAGEOUS.” Doors open at 10:30am for check-in/social time. Please do not arrive earlier. LUNCHEON COST: $25. All attendees must contact Susie Marshall to confirm their reservation. Make your check payable to MANDARIN WOMEN’S CLUB and contact Susie Marshall at 904-885-8952 for mailing instructions. Checks must be received by May18th. There will be no exceptions. Be sure to note on your check if you prefer a Chef’s Salad. MENU Classic Caesar Salad Chicken Parmesan with Basil Marinara Green Beans Garlic Roasted Potatoes Rolls and Butter Lemon Meringue Pie Coffee, Ice Tea and Water Chef’s Salad is offered as an alternative to the menu. Please advise your guest of this option. If a salad is desired, it must be noted on the reservation email or check. No changes can be made after the reservation deadline. NOTE: Salad dressings available are Italian, Light Italian, or Ranch only. PROGRAM This will be our last luncheon/speaker for the year. Our theme will be “Derby Day” so come decked out in a pretty hat, if you can. Our speaker will be the wonderful evening anchor at Action News, Tenikka Hughes. She is a two-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, and has received several honors from the Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists. I am certain that each one of you will enjoy listening to her many accomplishments and life history. Please join us. . |
Other Events this MonthAntiquing: May 5 (1st Friday) – We’ll be hitting the THRIFT Stores this month. We will be going out to Jacksonville Beach starting with one of our favorites, Hope’s Closet, located at San Pablo and Beach Boulevard. Then over the bridge for other stores and lunch at the European Street Café. Carpool from Hobby Lobby, leaving at 8:30am. Rider cost is $8.00. For information contact Sharon Weed.
Travel: May 10 (2nd Wednesday) - Please join us for a guided tour of the ‘K9's for Warriors” in Ponte Vedra and learn of the K9 program. The tour is about 30 to 45 minutes. We will meet at Hobby Lobby at 9:15am and leave at 9:30am sharp. Rider’s fee is $9.00. Any questions contact Shirley Wright or Anita Owens. Dining Out/Singles and Couples: May 13 - 5:30pm, Bonefish Grill, San Jose Plaza - 10950 San Jose Boulevard. Movie Mania: May 16 - The movie will be “80 For Brady”. This movie is a comedy. Starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sally Field, and Rita Moreno. Running time: 1hr 38 min. Inspired by the true story of four best friends living life to the fullest when they take a wild trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to see their hero Tom Brady play. Please call or text Mary Chapman if you would like to sub or want more info. Night Train: May 25 – 6:30pm – We play at HarborChase. Mark your calendar for the last Friday of each month. This is Mexican Train, and we are happy to teach beginners. Park in the back and check-in at the front desk. We play with quarters, so please come prepared with $3.25 in quarters. Bring your own non-alcoholic drink and snacks. Sign up at the luncheon or contact Gail Packard. Signup is not required, but HarborChase needs a headcount.
